The IDCORE programme has recently undergone a comprehensive review by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology as part of its accreditation process. We are delighted to announce that the review was successful, and IDCORE is now officially accredited by IMarEST.
IMarEST accreditation is recognised as an international benchmark of excellence, reflecting the high standing of an academic programme. It confirms that IDCORE meets the rigorous knowledge and skills requirements for professional registration, demonstrating a strong commitment to both professionalism and student development.
The review process was thorough and wide-ranging. Over two days, the panel toured facilities, scrutinised taught material, and met with IDCORE’s students, management team, Independent Advisory Board, and senior University representatives. While intensive, the process proved both rewarding and valuable, offering a rare opportunity for reflection and insight.
The Institute’s Professional Affairs and Education Committee highlighted several areas of excellence:
- Exceptionally well designed and managed professional Doctorate, well supported by the Research Council and relevant industry partners.
- The collegiate approach demonstrated by 4 high ranking UK Universities to address real world issues.
- Dedication of staff at partner Universities.
- Academic and pastoral support provided by the University as well as student-to-student interaction and support.
- Articulate and enthusiastic students appreciative of the programme, facilities, site visits.
- A dedicated student space for the students with suitable computing facilities providing excellent environment for students to interact and work together.
- Relationship between the programme management and the Industrial Advisory Board.
- Thorough, timely, transparent and candid responses to follow up questions raised by the panel.
